My name is Deborah,
I have been around horses all my life .. Since 4 !! Showjumping in my younger years was my main passion being lucky enough to have some quite good ponies and some very good if not scary Instructors, dressage mainly self taught from reading the old masters books, the natural horsemanship done the Debbie way :)
I then had a crack at working in trotting stables on and off for 18 years my main job was breaking in the young ones and all the jogging up etc .
In my early 30’s I got completely out of horses instead taking on the healthcare sector , although I loved my job I grew restless and when my daughter said I want a pony... it wasn't long before we had six lol we have had many horses since moving here to Arowhenua :)
The kids and I got into saving off the track thoroughbreds , it was a few years before we realized sadly we couldn't save them all!
I love to teach whether its a horse or a person I just love sharing my passion for animals particularly horses with all those that have the time to listen!
I worked for Liz Campbell at Milford Park Equestrian, to say I loved teaching is an understatement!! Sadly MPE has closed the doors so with a bit of pushing and shoving from friends and Liz Barrington Farm Equestrian was born!
We break in horses and ponies, I do the groundwork and I have an awesome bunch of kids to do the riding , we re educate problem horses as long as they are not dangerous, we offer treks with a bit of planing this is a good fun outing! I also offer riding lessons to young and old.... And would like to invite other trainers etc as we soon find with horses ya never stop learning!!
